Dendrobium glumacea

Question:

I have a Dendrobium glumacea that grows beautifully but hasn’t bloomed.  Does anyone have any experience with this one?  Thanks in advance.

When I read your orchids name, it reminded me of an orchid I have.  Is it possible that your orchid is Dendrochilum glumaceum?  It grows like a little cattleya.  It has oviod pseudobulbs with a single leaf (unifoliate).  Mine is about eight inches tall but they I recall seeing some as large as 2ft.  The inflorescent is a chain of nicely scented, small, cream-colored, bird-shaped blossums.  I grow mine in Cattleya-like conditions (medium bark with perlite and charcoal).  It does okay but, as I said above, I’ve seen better.  If this sounds like what you’ve got, maybe you could post again and get some even better culture tips (I’d like to hear them too!). Hope this helps! (Looking for an excuse to post — I haven’t for a while!) Hilary
