I growed in the tropics and we always had the most colorful orchids around. Now I live in New York City and I miss their beauty. I saw some in a store the other day but the price over 75$ was too expensive. If you known of a place were I can buy cheaper plants. Will you let me

Manhattan is very overpriced for orchids. I saw a common phal. type Dendrobium in bloom for $75 that would sell for no more than $35 elsewhere.  You should try going to the NYC Orchid Show (1st week of April?) at the World Financial Center downtown or the NYC Flower Show which is sometime earlier (maybe March?). I don’t know the flower show location but there is sure to be an article promoting it in the NY Times soon. If you have a car, you might try J&L Orchids in Easton, CT about 30-40 minutes outside of the city (more depending on traffic). Of course, weather permitting you can also get some excellent plants by mail order. Rocky Giovinazzo

The Philadelphia Flower show begins February 25, this year, about a week earlier than usual. Also it will be held at the new Convention center for the first time. Anyone interested in exhibiting orchids in the show please contact me for further information.  It is easy and fun to enter.  With the increase space this year the orchid exhibit will be twice as large as before.   Tim

I used to live in Philadelphia, and if there’s a chance anyone will be in the area it is well worth stopping by the Philadelphia Flowers Show.  It’s unbelieveable!!!! Anita
