My Milt

Question:

Just checked for a scent and you’re right! It does have a nice, slightly spicy scent. Reminds me of some of my roses, but there’s also little clove scent in there, too. Karen <!doctype html public "-//w3c//dtd html 4.0 transitional//en" <html I had one of these in bloom over the winter. Got it from Spencer’s last summer as NBS. I wanted to try a Milt. and it was the cheapest one they had. The bloom lasted quite a while, not as long as a phal but still a month or so. Mine looked similiar in appearance although yours seems to have a little bit richer color and somewhat flatter

petals/sepals. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – The mask was about the same and the lip was about the same but mine was a bit paler on the upper pedals/sepals. The pedals, sepals and lip seemed to curve back more. They curved more as the flower was open for a while though. With uncalibrated scanners and computer monitors, comparison of color is petty arbitrary though. If yours stays that flat and the color is that pink, I’d say you got nice one. <pMine had a spicy scent, particularly in the morning. <blockquote TYPE=CITE My new Milt. Before you buy.

Response:

The best first step is to wait a week or so and see what people do with this thread; who is interested, and other ideas that might pop up. Obviously this is a little more complicated than just post a picture for people to look at. "Disorganized", "non-centralized" and ‘anything goes’ are the hallmarks of an unmoderated newsgroup. This is where we come to learn just how many different frequencies and wave-lengths we can all be on and still think we are all talking about the same thing. A significant difference between here and the Orchid Safari chat that would need to be accommodated is the length of time each step must be given. It is noticeable in the "Post your growlist" thread that it takes a week or so for everybody who wants to participate to get their voice circulated and for others to respond to it. Al PS…you americans out there: enjoy your holiday. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Actually we’ve done it both ways – your typical OrchidSafari consensus! *G* We judged pictures of awarded Paphs using the AOS judging forms and saw how close we came to the points scored for the actual plant – the plant’s identity was hidden and only revealed at the end. Many of our members are real AOS judges, so their comments are always enlightening. That was quite fun. Maybe if I get my act together I’ll download some pics and do it again! Thanks for reminding me. Usually what we do is clump ’similar’ specimens and judge them 1st 2nd 3rd. Like best Dend, Best Vandaceous etc. People send me pictures from all over the place, and its my chance to put them online for their 15 minutes of fame. The only thing standing in the way of an RGO judging is someone to run it. Find the links for the AOS scoresheets, get everyone on the same page etc. Like herding mimes…. K Barrett The Orchid Safari had a chat where pictures of member orchids were ‘judged’ by the group. I wonder how that worked out and if a thread that aimed to do the same thing could be carried out here on the newsgroup. Did the OS use a scoring card like a real AOS judging session? Did it get input from real judges, etc? I was thinking about this yesterday as I was considering posting a link to a seedling cross of (Lc. Mari
