Masdevallia measuriana

Question:

: I just acquired this orchid and owner was unable to tell me if it was a : species or a hybrid.  I haven’t been sucessful finding it on the web.  Can : someone help me out?  This masd has very long spikes between 8 – 12 inches : and flower are a light purple. Measuresiana (amabilis x tovarensis) Sander 1890 Both parents are cool growers (52F-70F). M. tovarensis will grow well in intermediate temps, but will produce few flowers. M. amabilis is difficult to induce to bloom as it’s a summer bloomer…..when temps are sometimes too warm to allow the plant to even survive, let alone bloom. Hope for hybrid vigor. Dale Borders in Bandon, OR…Where Masdevallia tovarensis has 43 inflorescences with 3-4 buds on each.
