native Texas orchids
Question:
Does anybody know of an orchid that grows on gravel hills? There is no folage on top of the ground, just the flower spike. It about 6 inches high. The flowers are small 3/8" long. White with red spots. The top appears to have 5 parts. Three over two. It may not be an orchid at all. Somebody said "coral root orchid"? Thanks

Sounds right for a coralroot orchid. They don’t even have any foliage…their entire sustenance is from fungi that infect their roots. — Prem Programmer, graphic designer/animator, fossil nut extraordinaire… Member of "Dogbert’s New Ruling Class", 2nd wave.
