Nun Orchid
Question:
Years ago my mother had an orchid she called a ‘nun orchid’. It had a flower that sort of looked like a nun with her habit. Does anyone know the proper name for this orchid and/or where to get one. Thanks.
Response:
RE nun orchid The nun orchid is Phaius tankervilleae. In Florida at this time of the year you can find them everywhere, including Home Depot. Try Leaths Greenhouses, 2449 Old Springville Rd., Chalkville, AL (205) 854-3673. Good growing Bruce

You can also get them at The Orchid Man in Scaghticoke, NY. near Stillwater, between Albany and Saratoga Springs, NY. Area code 518. Joe and Jennefer. They have both small and large plants, and sprouting bulbs too. Tom Legbandt
