orchid
Question:
Hi Adrien de Van ; For lighting, I would back it off even more so it gets a lower light. The metallic pot is not a good idea. You would end up with root rot. Put the pot on a peddle tray with the water not touching the roots. This will give the orchid the humidity it would need. The orchid needs to acculmate to your surroundings so if you buy an orchid in flower or bud, a lot of the times the flowers and buds die off. Hi, this is a question of newbie : I just recieved an orchids Phalenopsis, white. 10 days ago, it had around 10 flower and 10 buds.I place it in a rather bright place (but not the must sunny). – the orchids is in a plastic pot, in a metalic flowerpot-holder. So, when i water, there is always water in the bottom… is it good or not ? – secondly. 10 days later, the flower are ok but the buds are fag, brown and fall. what’s happen ?? Thanks

The buds responded quickly to the roots having set in water. The plant didn’t like it and dropped the buds. Keep the plant a little on the dry side for about a month. — Matthew Swift Swift’s Orchids Phone/Fax 909-483-5590 http://www.swiftsorchids.com – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hi and welcome
No, it isn’t a good thing for your phalaenopsis to be sitting in water. I would suggest removing the plastic pot to the sink when you water. Water thoroughly and allow the pot to drain before putting it back into it’s decorative pot. As to the buds and their condition, I’m not sure but it might have something to do with the change in environment the plant experienced when you brought it home. Maybe bud blast? (Some of you more experienced folks, help! <g) If the pot has been sitting in water I’m wondering about the condition of the roots. Anyone think it would be wise to tip the plant out and check the medium/roots? Best of luck with everything, Karen Hi, this is a question of newbie : I just recieved an orchids Phalenopsis, white. 10 days ago, it had around 10 flower and 10 buds.I place it in a rather bright place (but not the must sunny). – the orchids is in a plastic pot, in a metalic flowerpot-holder.
