Java Trip? What should I do?

Question:

Try to include a visit to Bandung, an hour flight from Jakarta, also accessable by bus (nice trip), or train (even better).  If by train, take your own lunch, as the food is inedible on board. Bandung is east of Jakarta, in the mountains.  It was built by the Dutch, is inexpensive, great restaurants and friendly people.  The architecture is art deco, which comes as a pleasant surprise. If you travel by bus, stop in Bogor en route to see a famous orchid garden.

I am going to Java in June for 25 days. Could anyone send some suggestions on where I should go? At this stage I am thinking of going to Pelabuanratu for at least a couple of days. I am thinking of doing a bit of Surfing, Scuba Diving, and fishing. I am flying into Jakarta at the end of June. If anybody has any info on the Surfing up the western end of Java it would be extremely helpful. Thanks Evan.

Pelabuhan ratu is not really a nice place to visit. It is quite dangerous place where many accidents happen every year. I would suggest you to follow this route (enough for 25 days trip): Fly to Jakarta Take Bus Jakarta – Bandung: pass the beautiful Puncak (Mountain) In Bandung: Visit Tangkuban Perahu (Volcano), Ciater Hot Spring Many Indonesian agree that Bandung girls are the most beautiful in the country. Bus Bandung – Pangandaran Pangandaran: Growing popularity beach with Natural Reserve (avoid weekend and major holiday) Bus & Boat & Bus from Pangandaran – Cilacap – Jogjakarta: one of the highlight In Jogjakarta: See Borobudur (The biggest Budhist temple in the world and one of the seven wonders). See Prambanan temple, Keraton (Palace), learn batik painting etc. Bus Jogjakarta – Mount Bromo (The roof of the world: Indonesian version) Thats all! Another possibility: West Java: Visit Krakatau island Visit Ujungkulon National Park Visit Pulau Seribu (Thousands island) Central Java: Visit Dieng Plateu Good Luck.
