Bc. Pastoral `Innocence`
Question:
o oI have a plant that came into bloom for the first time a few days ago. oThe label from the grower identified the plant as Bc. Pastoral o’Innocence’. I’ve read that ‘Innocence’ is entirely white, possibly owith yellow in the throat. My plant’s flowers are white with yellow othroats, but there is a thin stripe of magenta on the center of the olip. It is about an eighth of an inch wide and slightly more than a ohalf inch tall. Does this sound like Bc. Pastoral ‘Innocence’, or is othis yet another example of a mislabelled plant in my collection? o oHarold oin rainy but warm Covington, LA o o Sounds right to me, Harold. Even among clones, there will be slight variations between individuals. These differences tend to be most noticeable in albas and semi albas, where even a small stripe or a bit of speckling will stand out. -Rod- Rod & Susan Venger, Venger’s Orchids Homepage address http://www.usa.net/venger/ Listings Available – Email us for your copies Order Line 1-800-483-6437 —
Response:
I would agree with Rod, plus, cultural conditions can affect the flower appearance significantly. I have a number of Onc. Sharry Baby ‘Sweet Fragrance,’ which, if you look at most published photo’s, have a white blaze on the lip. Mine are solid red with no blaze… UNLESS I reduce the light level. — Orchid plants (Check out the list): http://www.voicenet.com/~raybark
