Orchid help in Oregon
Question:
- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I was just wondering if anyone knows of somwhere to bring my orchid to have someone (who is much more knowledgable than I) look at it and tell me how it’s doing/what’s wrong. Just a general type of place would be helpful…or, more specifically if possible, in the NW Oregon/SW Washington area. I just have some black tipped leaves on my cym. plant…and one of the leaves turned yellow and brown (may just be its time to go…). Thanks in advance! Jennifer Jennifer, The Oregon Orchid Society meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Multnomah Art Center, 7688 SW Capital Hwy.,Portland. They have a time for socializing from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and a beginner’s program from 6:45-7:15 p.m. Then a guest speaker, plant sales etc. till 9:30 p.m. This month’s meeting is next week. Also, visitors are welcome! If you choose to join, the dues are $10.00. While I have to admit that I only recently joined and haven’t attended a meeting,I’m sure that someone there could look at your orchid and answer your questions. BTY if you have any reason at all, to think it might have any insect infestation, it might be better to enclose it in a poly bag so that those insects can’t escape into the other plants which are brought to the meeting. Hope this helps Jennifer Millsap
Jennifer, South Central WA Orchid Society: you can contact William G. Jasen, Route 3, Box 8444, Richland, WA 99352, (206) 848-4446. This person may also be able to tell you of someone close to you who can help. Another place to look is the AOS web site, it may have more listings closer to your home. Good Luck, Dana :
