Repotting a Phalaenopsis
Question:
Hi, I’m new here. I just purchases a wonderful Phalaenopsis at my local garden center. It is potted in potting soil and is in full bloom. I have read that they should be potted in bark so I also purchased a bag of Orchid potting mix. My question is whether to repot it into the bark now or wait until it is out of bloom? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Paulette

You might want to loosen it in the pot a little and gently tap out some of the potting soil to let air get to the roots. They like to be kept evenly moist, but need air to keep the roots from rotting. If you repot it now, it may drop the flowers (although sometimes they dont–they seem to handle it pretty well–catts will drop the flowers the next day!) hope this helps… Alynne South Fla.
